Winter Wedding | Darver Castle Wedding

Bride and groom with VW camper van at Darver Castle

Naoise and Ben actually met at another wedding I photographed back in 2013 in Carlingford. I was so excited to photograph their beautiful Darver Castle wedding in early January. They were such a lovely couple whose relationship had been carefully documented by photos scattered throughout their house, my kinda couple! They both had so many ideas for the wedding and were both clearly so invested in making it a special day for their friends and family. It was the perfect wedding to start 2017 with!

All their invites and mass cards were made by themselves, the tiny castle charm tying in with the Fairytale theme they had.

Naoise’s shoes were to die for! I loved the sparkle!

Tiny bottles of gin were a fun present for the bridesmaids, each found their little bottle tucked inside their bags as a little surprise.

Naoise and her girls were picked up by the gorgeous VW camper van, in white of course! The perfect touch to bring them to the church!

Naoise made sure to get a picture with her adorable little dog, who looked super handsome is his little dickie bow! Being a massive animal lover I love when people incorporate their pets into the morning prep.

So several things happened at once….the light was hitting that magical golden moment that is perfect for  photos the bride and groom were arriving, it was all perfect! Then just as they were half way up the drive way the car decided, No More and wouldn’t budge. In the long run it was actually perfect, Darver Castle has such a long and scenic drive way it was the perfect spot for photos with the sun setting in the background.

Lets just take a moment and admire Ben’s fantastic tie and pocket square combo, perfectly set off by the beautiful flowers from Fab Fleurs Wedding Flowers. A lot of grooms are happy to sit back and let the bride take the reins when planning the wedding, not Ben! He was full of ideas and was so excited about the whole planning process, he even handmade the decorations, more on them in a tick…

Does this look familiar to anyone? A tiny detail that nearly escaped me, Ben was strongly influenced by the movie Up, which as anyone who has seen it knows it literally the most charming and lovely movie ever about two people to vow to stay together forever and travel the world. Ben’s tribute to this movie was a little Grape Soda pin just like they had in the movie.

Remember how I said Ben made the decorations for the reception himself? I kid you not! All the landmarks in their relationship, first date, first holiday had been documented with photos and worked into the decoration as well as photos of their parents, and their grandparents. It was an amazingly well thought out and touching piece.

The Marty Fay Band were amazing! They had everyone up on their feet and tearing up the dance floor, definitely one for your wedding!
