The romantic in me loves nothing more than a sprawling Irish Castle wedding and two people who are hopelessly in love! Fiona and Nicholas tied the knot in one of Ireland’s most luxurious castles surrounded by their family and friends who has flown in from all corners of the globe. Fiona was a girl after my own heart and wanted to get all the couple photos around the amazing grounds at their Markree Castle wedding. It’s a pretty amazing backdrop for photos to be fair!
Luxury Irish Castle Wedding in Co. Sligo
Markree Castle is truly a sight to see, an authentic Irish Castle in the West of Ireland it boasts sprawling grounds on all sides. There’s plenty of photo opportunities with the castle as the perfect backdrop and even a wooded area and boat house as additional options for photos, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the resident Irish Wolfhound, Roisin!
Even if it should rain, and this being Ireland this is a likelihood, the inside of the castle has no shortage of nooks and crannies and beautiful rooms for photos. Their billiards rooms is one of my personal favourite with a gothic style and fantastic light!
Fiona and Nicholas first booked an engagement shoot with me and we hit it off from the start! I was so delighted when they then booked me for their wedding in Markree Castle. Fiona has an amazing sense of style and no detail was too small on the day. Her beautiful bouquet was made from Australian native flowers which is where she heralds from. She also designed and painted the invitation suite which features Fiona and Nicholas and their two dogs Misty and Storm. Handmade candles were the wedding favours and smelt amazing!
This wedding was an absolute delight to photograph, it’s always amazing when you get to work with such a fun and relaxed couple. Markree Castle has firmly cemented itself as a dream wedding venue in my head and I can’t wait to be back!
If you’re getting married in Markree Castle do get in touch here, I’d love to chat!
