Michelle and Stephen | Wicklow Mountains
Michelle and Stephen’s Ireland winter wedding was one for the books! When Michelle and I met beforehand to discuss details, I knew it was going to be amazing. We even had matching Pinterest boards!
To top it off, she said these magic words to me… “I want to do my photos in the Wicklow Mountains.” Queue internal squealing with joy!
I’ve always loved the amazing and beautiful scenery and landscapes that Ireland boasts. It’s something that I’ve always been inspired by and makes me feel at home, so being told that the bridal portraits would take place in one of my most favourite places (up a mountain) was pretty much a dream come true!
When I first arrived at Michelle’s house the morning of her wedding, it was a hubbub of emotions! Excitement, laughter, tears, giddiness. I couldn’t have asked for more.
The amount of effort that went into all the details was absolutely amazing. From the gorgeous Chupi necklaces for the bridesmaids to the stunning wedding flowers by Austen Flowers, everything looked perfect together.
After the church, we piled into our cars and took off to the Wicklow Mountains. The light was beginning to fade and it was November, so let me tell you… it was FREEZING. There was ice on the ground and we were all shivering, but it didn’t phase this beautiful couple.
Michelle and Stephen were champs! Armed with furry boots hidden under her dress and some pretty steely will power, they braved the wind and freezing temperatures to have their wedding portraits taken on top of the mountains. It’s safe to say that the word ‘epic’ doesn’t even begin to cover it.
When we finished at the mountains, we zipped back to the fabulous Rathsallagh House, whose service and hospitality were off the charts. But wait, Michelle and Stephen weren’t even kind of finished being awesome.
As light turned to dark, they did another favorite of mine, sparklers!
This Ireland wedding was such an incredible experience. Michelle, Stephen, and both of their families were beyond welcoming and lovely. I loved every minute of it and am thankful for the opportunity to accomplish one of my all-time dreams, to shoot a bride and groom on top of a mountain.
Can someone please bring me back up there for some photos again soon?!
And honestly, who could forget those sparklers at the end of the day? All in all, this wedding was seriously epic. Congratulations Michelle and Stephen, and thank you for an incredible day. Wishing you all the best life has to offer!
Here’s what Michelle and Stephen had to say about the experience:
“When I look back at the pictures I’m transported back to the top of the mountains with the freezing cold wind…and not even feeling cold because it’s the happiest I’ve ever been and I can see that happiness beaming out of me in the photos! You were such an important part of our happy memories of the day.”
